Optimizing for Google Search Engines

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It’s the procedure of receiving traffic from the natural, editorial, or viral search results on various search engines. If SEO doesn’t get you traffic, then there’s no point in doing SEO. So how to become an SEO expert, ask these questions:

Do you participate in and maintain in the SEO community? This means do you read articles on various subjects by various authors with differing SEO knowledge? Have you created your own blog to share your SEO knowledge? Do you comment on blogs and websites with relevant content?

Do you have your own in depth keyword research and optimization process that drives targeted traffic to your website? Have you published your own content in social media as well as article directories? Do you have a solid plan of how you’re going to implement organic SEO strategies in your business to drive targeted traffic to your site? Are you part of a proven SEO community?

Ask yourself these questions and make sure you have all the answers before you start applying SEO how-to to your business. If you’re not part of a proven SEO community, don’t even consider doing SEO how-to on your business site. SEO experts will tell you that you have to be part of that community in order to make sure you’re doing things right. SEO experts are not into communities just for their own selfish gain.

What are your current web pages ranking on Google? Google wants to know what’s happening with your site to make sure it crawls the SERP (search engine result page) regularly and that it’s being indexed by Google. Google wants to know what people are searching for and what web pages on your site are ranking for that particular term. It’s a basic marketing principle: the higher your page rank is, the more likely people are to find you. This is how Google measures their rankings and it’s also the reason why they make changes (like banning black hat practices like link farms, duplicate domains, keyword stuffing, etc.)

Are you doing any keyword research on your own? Google does all of the keyword research on its own. If you’re not doing any on-site keyword research or you’re not part of a proven SEO community, you need to make sure you’re doing everything in your power to improve your ranking.

Are you using proper meta tags and title tags? A great way to improve your ranking is to make sure your meta description and title tags are optimized with the specific keywords you’re targeting. Google will scan your website for the appropriate keywords based on the keywords in your title tag and the meta description and use these in your internal meta tags and title tags.

Are you building internal links to your main website? To improve your SEO ranking, you need to build links from high ranking pages to your site. Google uses internal links to determine which keywords and key phrases your site are optimized for. Internal links from relevant new pages to your website will help Google understand which keywords and key phrases are being used to target your site.

Are you part of an established SEO community? Joining a reputable SEO community is a great way to grow your business. In addition to giving you insider tips and tricks about SEO and other internet marketing topics, a good SEO community will also provide news and articles that pertain to your industry. These news articles and tips will be beneficial to both you and Google when it comes to improving your page ranking.

Do you update your site content regularly? This is another important factor when it comes to search engines. Websites with poor page ranks are considered to be outdated by most search engines. To make sure you rank effectively on Google, make sure you keep your site updated with quality content. Google looks at the quality of your site content and the quality of the links that point to your site. If you don’t update your site content, Google will take notice and rank you lower.

Lastly, check out the loading speed of the pages Google returns in a search. Google looks for sites that load quickly and properly. Most SEO publishers recommend changing the main keyword of your blog or site in order to improve your page ranking. Make sure your website is loading speed is up to par and this will help you beat out your competition.
